WITH leaders Dunnington inactive, Tadcaster Magnet took the chance to reduce the lead to 15 points in division five, albeit in a none too impressive manner.

Magnet's Colin Wilkinson, who took 3-18, appeared to have set his side a simple task as bottom placed Carlton Towers were dismissed for 92.

Andy Pocklington, with 28, was the only Carlton player to make any mark with the bat but then saw Steve Landers 3-22 and Richard Cowling 3-36 make a determined effort to retrieve the situation and may well have pulled off a fine win had not Kevin Wakefield's unbeaten 22 seen Tadcaster to a three wicket victory.

Another game devoid of batting points took place at Huntington where the home side failed badly to meet a modest target of 98 set by York.

The Clifton Park side were reduced to 13-5 as Steve Beales 4-31 and Stuart Ross 4-29 exploited the conditions but were then rescued by Chris Horner who made 30 and Brendon Ledgeway who gave valuable support.

Huntington's batting was then swept away by Tony Hall who took 6-20 in a decisive 15 over spell which had the hosts reeling to 63 all out.

An even more impressive spell by Bolton Percy's Martin Pears saw Sessay crumble to 69 all out with Pears grabbing 6-16. Bolton then strolled to a comfortable nine-wicket win with Andy Curtis and Henry Houseman both making unbeaten 25s

The only batting points registered in the division were at Hovingham where the home side gained a 38 run triumph over Stamford Bridge to boost their survival chances. Despite Martin Veysey's 5-70, Hovingham were able to make 165-9 in a 40 over game through Richie Brown 46, Paul Deverall 45 and Steve Thompson 30.

Deverall, 5-61 and Brown 4-13 were then to the forefront as Stamford were dismissed for 127 with only Ian Fraser 32 and Andy Rapson 34 threatening to deny a home victory.
