DIVISION four leaders Selby had by far the worst of a draw when they entertained a Huby side whose fortunes fluctuate on a weekly basis.
Dave Patmore hit 50 for Huby, who were able to post a total of 164-8 despite handy bowling by Richard Sherwood 3-47 and Andy Jarvis 4-14. When Selby replied, Chris Cundall 3-41 and Tim Little 3-45 each claimed three scalps and it was left to Matt Bowden 29 and Peter Hoyle 34 to earn Selby safety at 127-7.
Second placed Thorp Arch & Boston Spa also found themselves outclassed and had their last pair at the wicket when they drew against a Sheriff Hutton side who are mounting a good promotion challenge.
Sheriff pocketed a nap hand of batting points when they reached 212-8 through James Wilford 25, John Armitage 27no and Shane Marshall, who was unbeaten with 42. Andy Heaps had 3-47 for The Arch, who were taken to 169-9 by Andy Hawkswell 32, Matt Warrilow 31 and Chris Cole 47. Divisional leading wicket taker Richard Armitage took 4-58.
Teenager David Coverdale made an unbeaten 54 and Geoff Schofield 39 as Sheriff Hutton Bridge gained a seven-wicket win at the expense of Pocklington, whose David Gamble deserved better reward after making 96. He had little support from his colleagues who perished as Dave Houldridge took 4-38 in an all out score of 150.
Mike Harah took 4-61 and then made 41 to help Hornsea to a seven wicket win at Osbaldwick. Home batsmen Matt Dunne 41, A Milne 42 and Simon Rippon 26 countered the bowling of Harah and Jason Hickey 3-25 as a total of 180 was reached.
Whitkirk suffered their eighth defeat of the season when they entertained Easingwold, who won by six wickets. Stuart Pickles made 78 in the home total of 143-9 but the bowling duo of Darren Powell with 5-51 and Alan Robinson 4-56 took the first half plaudits. The second act belonged to Greg Saunders who made 50 and Richard Jones who lent good support with 43.
