STUART Russell suggested Mike Usherwood and I should stop moaning at each other about the case for and against cyclists and each get a life (Letters, June 28).

I have resisted the temptation to reply to Mike's recent missives, to see whether other readers may choose to echo my earlier views.

Many have and it's gratifying to know they are willing to join a healthy debate on an important issue.

When the oil runs out, the cyclist will be king.

So I shall hang on to my trusty velocipede for the moment.
