I WISH to alert Clifton residents to the fact that York environment and development services have sent a letter to a few houses in my area giving notice of the closure of the public right of way running from Lady Road to Lumley Road, Clifton.
Residents have until July 16 to object to the proposal, or the council "will assume that residents have no objections so the proposal will go ahead".
I know that the path is very well used by young and old for access to Clifton shops, bus stops and the doctors' surgery. Because City of York Council will not inform all users of this path, and give everyone a chance to voice their opinion on the matter, I shall.
If you are against the closure - as I am - write to the council at 9 St Leonard's Place, York before July 16.
S Haywood,
Cromer Street, York.
