A NEW attempt is being made to cure car parking headaches at York Station.
A partnership formed between city-based rail company GNER and Europarks is aimed at providing hassle-free parking for passengers.
The completion of a new £600,000 footbridge connecting the Leeman Road area to the station means that travellers driving into the city will no longer have to fight for spaces in the station's main car park.
Instead, they can leave their cars at the Europarks site, opposite the National Railway Museum, and cross the footbridge directly into the station.
GNER station operations manager Wayne Kyte said: "The main car park at York is very popular with business travellers in particular, and so often fills up by 9am on weekdays.
"The new arrangement means anyone travelling on a Standard Business or First Class Executive package, which includes a car park voucher, can simply show that at the entrance to the Europarks site off Leeman Road, display the voucher in their windscreen and park there, crossing the new footbridge to reach the station."
