PUPILS said "auf wiedersehen" to visiting students after a successful exchange trip.
Youngsters from Millthorpe School, York, yesterday bade farewell to new friends from Stadtlohn, Germany.
During their week-long visit the German pupils experienced life in an English school, brushed up on language skills and still found time to explore York's historic attractions.
Liz Abell, of Millthorpe, who organised the exchange trip, said: "Millthorpe students enjoyed the experience of visiting Germany in March and comparing the different school systems.
"The students have been looking forward to returning the hospitality and to show their German friends the attractions of York."
She said: "The exchanges between the two schools are a marvellous opportunity for students learning languages to visit the country and practice their skills."
The visiting pupils, from the Geschwister-Scholl Gymnasium, were due to leave York yesterday afternoon.
