IN its effort to redevelop the site of Burton Croft, the former home of York's great benefactor JB Morrell, Barratt York has submitted a revised scheme which it hopes "...would address some of the problems which had meant that previous applications were refused" (June 22).
Unfortunately, the new scheme does not in fact solve the main problem, which is the proposal to demolish the existing house.
Barratt is fully aware of this, and to claim that the new scheme "...addresses all of the issues raised in the previous refusal" is disingenuous to say the least.
Barratt has made clear its determination to have the building down, come what may, and refuses to discuss any alternative solutions.
Can I urge all those who are concerned about this, and wish to object, to write to the Assistant Director Of Planning, 9 St Leonard's Place, York Y01 7ET, without delay.
The planning committee which will review the application in due course needs to know your views.
Philip Crowe,
Clifton, York.
