Malton jockey David Allan, who joined the fully-fledged ranks when losing his apprentice allowance on Piccled at York earlier this month, can make his mark on stablemate Midnight Parkes at Warwick tomorrow.

The Eric Alston-trained sprinter goes for the St Mary's Lands Rated Handicap and is strongly fancied to end a long losing run after a couple of encouraging performances in recent weeks.

A good fourth in a hot handicap at Pontefract, Midnight Parkes travelled to Redcar last Saturday to finish third to Cd Flyer.

In between, he finished unplaced at Beverley, but he had a poor draw that day and, as so often is the case on that course, he was unable to overcome such a disadvantage.

A useful three-year-old with Michael Jarvis, Midnight Parkes then lost his way. But he has slipped to a useful handicap mark and Alston, who took him over last season, is a dab hand with sprinters.

Add to that, the fact the Preston trainer's horses are in good form and that Midnight Parkes is well berthed in stall four, and there is every reason to believe that David Allan could be celebrating a Sunday success.

The in-form Goblin should not be dismissed lightly in the Andrew Sykes Group Handicap.

A winner at Beverley last month, this progressive three-year-old added to his tally on this course recently. Still on the upgrade, he could well complete a treble for Newmarket trainer Don Cantillon.

Trusted Mole is the one to be in the Hill Close Gardens Apprentice Handicap.

Already a winner this season, Mark Brisbourne's gelding is running well. Further to his chances is the assistance of Ben Swarbrick, a talented rider, in the saddled.

Also worth noting at Warwick are the promising McEldowney (2.20) and the tough Appalachian Trail (2.50), a recent winner, who makes the journey from Ian Semple's Scottish yard.

At Windsor, La Persiana gets my vote in the £20,000 totesport.com Rated Handicap.

A half-sister to the former top-notch performer Grand Lodge, La Persiansa fulfilled previous promise when scoring handsomely at Doncaster on her latest start. Open to further improvement, she can oblige again.

Trainer Alan Jarvis seems to have a high opinion of recent scorer Right Answer, who could prove to be the solution to the Royal Marbella Group Quality Homes Abroad Stakes, while Krugerrand is fancied to lift the same sponsors handicap over an extended mile.

Trained by Willie Musson, Kruggerand came from a seemingly impossible position to score in tremendous style at York earlier this month. Now that he has struck form, he should be followed.

Malton trainer John Quinn took a gamble when he paid 48,000 guineas for Caribbean Coral last year, but the investment has paid off handsomely with the five-year-old following up a recent Epsom win with a decisive success in the Northern Rock Gosforth Park Cup at Newcastle.

Caribbean Coral won the Vodafone Dash earlier this month and with last night's triumph he took his earnings to over £60,000 since joining Quinn.

The progressive sprinter had scraped home by a short head at the home of the Derby but won in much more convincingly at Newcastle on soft ground, heavy in places.

Robert Winston the 5-1 favourite in the middle of the pack as Steel Blue set the pace in the five-furlong handicap.

Winston moved his mount up to challenge at the furlong pole and quickening well, Caribbean Coral ran on strongly.
