ALL-TIME batting and bowling records graced the first of this year's re-vamped awards in the Hunters the estate agents York and District Senior Cricket League.
Student James Turner set the standard in the batting category when, on the opening day of the season, he made a remarkable 214 not out for Thorp Arch & Boston Spa against Dringhouses. This created a new league record by beating the previous best ever score made by Scarborough's Andy Holden who hit 213 in division two against Clifton Alliance in 1999.
In all, 13 batsmen hit centuries on May 22 to create yet another record.
That same day, another of the league's longest-standing records was shattered when Huntington's Steve Beales took all ten wickets against Carlton Towers for just five runs. That wiped out the previous best of 10-9 achieved by Sheriff Hutton Bridge's Roy Piercy against New Earswick in division four in 1968.
Hovingham's Mike Hemingway had the next best performance with his 8-24 against Huntington on May 1.
The league's 'monthly award' scheme has been slightly revamped in order to counteract the imbalance in the number of games played in a month.
The award for May now relates to the first six weeks of the season while the subsequent prize for June Award will include five games up to the half way stage of the season on July 3.
The May and June award-winners will be presented with their trophies at York Brewery on Tuesday, July 27.
