IF any more confirmation was needed that the Eighties is casting a large shadow over today's music, it's this album.

The Las Vegas foursome have clearly been listening to their U2 back catalogue - hardly surprising since Alan Moulder mixed two-thirds of the tracks. Anyone who heard superb recent single Mr Brightside, the triumphant tale of an abandoned boyfriend, know The Killers carry huge potential.

And on Hot Fuss the band seem to have successfully extracted all that was good about the 80s British pop-rock - Duran Duran, The Cure, The Smiths - and re-created it for a new generation in a short and snappy 46 minutes. It's bursting with great tunes, particularly Somebody Told Me and All These Things That I've Done, which is a majestic singalong number and sure to be a live favourite. One that will be jammed on repeat - a flawless debut.
