THE generous offer to re-develop the central car park area of Tadcaster, as reported by your earlier correspondents, should be accepted with enthusiasm.
For far too long many local people have desired to see this eyesore improved, and if some so far anonymous benefactor will complete this task and do a better job of it than the council would, then there should be no argument about acceptance.
Even if this has hidden costs (such as land transfer) this should be preferred to the present stagnation which blights the town. An expeditious end to all the wrangling between the councils and land-owner/philanthropists is essential to hasten the more attractive, prosperous town centre many people desire.
