A FUND to help technology-based businesses is set to be launched in York.
Tomorrow will see the start of the Viking Fund, which aims to provide capital for technology-based companies in the early stages.
The £5 million fund will be launched at the third annual Connect Yorkshire investment Conference at St William's College in York tomorrow.
Formed with a repayable grant from the DTI's Small Business Service, the Viking Fund expects to make around 40 investments of £50,000 in early-stage businesses based in Yorkshire in the next ten years, with a lower number of second-round investments of £150,000.
To complement the fund, the Viking Club will be established for business angels who wish to co-invest alongside it.
