IN response to the article (Thursday, June 17) on the Bike It! scheme backed by schools and supported by transport minister Tony McNulty, some well-meaning, but vital, errors seem to have been made.
I remember from my time as a pupil at All Saints the incredible volume of traffic in the Nunnery Lane and Blossom Street area.
The idea of encouraging a child at either All Saints or Millthorpe, not to mention Dringhouses Primary (being so close to Tadcaster Road) to cycle in this area could at best be described as grossly irresponsible.
I know the environmental concerns, but someone's life could be at risk and asthma dangers are important too.
