The threatened rain didn't come early enough for champions Norwich Union in the Horwath Pulleyn Heselton York Vale League division one.
They were bundled out and humbled by leaders Askham Bryan/YPO.
With third and fourth-placed teams Tollerton and North Duffield falling foul of the weather, British Sugar, hitting the day's top score when whipping Westow, climbed the table.
Improving Fulfordgate enjoyed their first win, at home to Stockton and Hopgrove.
Burn kept their unbeaten division two record in tact, making short work of Thixendale, while second-placed Copmanthorpe crashed to struggling Stillingfleet.
Wheldrake slipped to third leaving Ovington rooted to the bottom, while an excellent nine-wicket win for Kelfield at Burton Salmon opened up mid-table.
Division three leaders Clifton Alliance lost to Thorpe Willoughby, who claimed their first win of the season, and this allowed Heworth, victors over Drax, to take over the leadership.
Division four leaders Acomb fell foul of the weather but nearest rivals Malton & Old Malton were whalloped by Huntington.
