WE'RE ready for Roo, Croatia! England fans across York and North Yorkshire were today putting their faith in Sven's wonderkid, Wayne Rooney, to secure us a place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2004.
Pubs across the city were again expected to be packed as supporters clamoured to watch the game on the big screen.
At The Acomb pub, in Kingsway West, landlord Paul Harris is offering free food to fans during the 90 minutes - if they can manage to eat during the nerve-tingling encounter.
At the Melbourne Pub, in Cemetery Road, landlord Wayne Allan said it would be a real nail-biter.
"The atmosphere has been brilliant so far," he said.
"It will be one of the biggest upsets in history if we go out. I've never seen so many England flags in all my life."
Alistair Kennan, North Yorkshire Police's football intelligence officer, today warned fans to stay calm - whatever the result.
He revealed that there had been 14 drink-related arrests in York following England's first two games - ten after the France match and four after our victory against Switzerland.
"Our message is stay calm and enjoy the evening," he said.
"There will be a high-profile police presence tonight in York and North Yorkshire."
