After weeks of uninterrupted games, the weather caused the early abandonment of three games in division one.
Carlton Towers had made 86-3 against Goole Town, Ripon 28-1 against Duncombe Park and Tadcaster Magnet 102-8 against Whitkirk when their respective matches were aborted.
In these games Abhay Sharma (31no) and Jamie Pocklington (27no) had begun to rebuild Carlton's innings after the loss of three early wickets, while Zimbabwean Greg Strydom had made 69 for Magnet to counter a 5-40 spell from Whitkirk's Mark Murphy.
Malton & Old Malton stretched their lead to 53 points when they had the better of a draw at Pocklington after earning maximum batting points.
The bulk of Malton's 204-6 was provided by the in-form Johnson brothers.
Greg Johnson hit 68 and his sibling Neil 60 in advance of their prestigious Sunday game against Lashings CC. Danny Foxton weighed in with an unbeaten 25.
Once again spinner Ryan Bulger was Malton's leading bowler with 4-66 but Mark Croft made 47 and Pocklington held out for a draw at 157-9.
Second-placed Osbaldwick were in a similar position at the end of their 40 over match against Driffield when they closed on 119-8 after Driffield had posted 143-9.
Veteran bowler Steve Young posted worthy figures of 5-26 for Osbaldwick as Phil Woodcock hit 55 and Dave Woodcock 26 and 17-year-old Russell Robinson 26.
When Osbaldwick batted, skipper Steve Jackson 53 was the sole success as Chris Smith captured 3-51 in 20 overs, while the safe hands of Mark Woodcock held a trio of return catches to finish with 3-13.
