York's Millennium Bridge will finally open today - in time for the Easter holidays.
The Lord Mayor, Councillor Shan Braund, will cut a ribbon at 10:45am to officially open the foot and cycle bridge over the River Ouse this morning.
The York Millennium Bridge Trust will also formally hand over the bridge and associated riverside walks to City of York Council.
The Evening Press understands it is hoped the Duke of York will unveil a plaque during a visit to North Yorkshire at the end of May.
Work has been delayed by floods, particularly last November when the Ouse rose to record levels.
