THAT'S a relief. After last Sunday's embarrassment at the hands of the French, England last night put matters straight with a three-nil victory over the Swiss.
The star of the match was the stocky 18-year-old Wayne Rooney, who scored two of England's goals, making him the youngest scorer in the history of the European Championships.
Other winners on the night were those without any interest in football, who found they had a pleasant and easy journey home on open roads, with only the cheering from pubs to indicate what was up. Winners all round.
