WOOD you believe it? Dalby Forest is preparing for its busiest weekend of concerts in the North York Moors woodland near Pickering.
All 4,500 tickets have been sold for Paul Weller's Music In The Forest concert tomorrow at the tree-lined clearing of Adderstone Field, and Bryan Ferry's al fresco appearance on Sunday has attracted 3,800 ticket sales so far.
Richard Darn, of the Forestry Commission, says: "The Bryan Ferry show is 85 per cent sold out but there will be a limited quantity of tickets available on the gate at £24 each."
Weller, who made his name as The Jam's front man in the late 1970s, will be on stage from 9pm and will be supported by a 7.30pm set by The Stands, the young Liverpudlians whose debut album, All Years Leaving, chirpily reinvents the psychedelic rock of The Byrds.
Roxy Music leader Ferry will be accompanied by a 12-piece band, and his 9pm set will be preceded by two support acts. Classical violin duo Duel, who used to busk on the streets of York and Harrogate, will open Sunday's bill at 7.15pm; making way for Seventies' soul singer Linda Lewis at around 8pm.
The Forestry Commission telephone credit card hotline for Ferry tickets is 01842 814612, between 9am and noon tomorrow.
