BUSINESSMAN John Eeles was given a birthday to remember at a North Yorkshire convention.
About 1,500 delegates sang Happy Birthday to John at the Yorkshire International Business Convention in Harrogate. The sing-song was led by celebrated conductor Benjamin Zander, of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, who was a keynote speaker at the event.
John is managing director of property investment and development company, The Helmsley Group, based in Pocklington.
John, who actually turns 53 on June 23, said: "I've never had 1,500 people sing Happy Birthday to me before. I must admit their first effort was quite disappointing, but Benjamin Zander really encouraged them to give it their all and it was fantastic in the end and very uplifting."
The Helmsley Group, which is behind projects such as the £60m Monks Cross North business park on York's outer ring road and the £8.5m Merchant Exchange development on the River Ouse, was one of the convention's key sponsors.
