STEVE Helsdon wrote about the anonymous benefactor who is prepared to re-furbish Tadcaster's central car park at his/her own expense (June 8).
Is this the same anonymous benefactor who:
1. Was given the responsibility to carry out such a scheme but failed to do anything?
2. At the end of the time agreed for the completion of the scheme created difficulties about handing the land back to its rightful owners?
3. Involved the local authority in thousands of pounds in legal costs, money which could have been devoted to community projects?
Since Mr Helsdon appears to have the ear of the anonymous benefactor, I am sure many Tadcaster residents would like him to pass on this message: Tadcaster people are sick of "vision" - they want action and they know there is no such thing as a free lunch.
A "bog standard" car park is preferable to a "vision" and the ratepayers would at least know to whom it belonged and when they had finished paying for it.

Wighill Lane,
