ESCAPING the Indie enclave for fresher pastures is not easy.

Seafood are the latest to attempt to re-invent themselves, leaving behind the low fidelity, occasionally fierce sound of their previous two albums for a more varied, better produced slice of mature rock. The band recorded the record after some personal misfortune.

Opener I Dreamt We Ruled The Sun is the sort of instrumental that Pink Floyd used to open records. The best results are when the reflective meets upbeat, as on Milk And Honey which has an alt.country hue. Admirers of Pete Yorn and, through him, New Order will also enjoy tracks like Summer Falls, with its throbbing bass. While the variety is admirable and the material mostly good, As The Cry Flows lacks real personality or a track to say to the world "we are back". Most never knew they were there in the first place.
