POLICE have named a teenage girl from York who died in a horrific car crash on the city's outskirts.
Laura Collingwood, 19, of Bramham Avenue, Chapefields, was travelling in a silver BMW which lost control on the A1237 at Clifton Moor, crashing through a hedge and ending up on its roof in the car park of the nearby McDonald's restaurant shortly before midnight on Saturday.
Laura was pronounced dead at the scene, after being thrown from the car.
The other four occupants were taken to York Hospital after the crash.
One teenage girl was suffering from serious internal injuries. A man, believed to be in his early 20s, suffered head and lower leg injuries.
The other two occupants of the car escaped with cuts and bruises.
Police said the BMW had overtaken a black Ford Fiesta travelling towards the Wigginton Road roundabout before losing control.
