With two former Conservative councillors - and past group leaders to boot - having rediscovered your letters column last week, it was a little disappointing to find that they still appear to be reading the editions of the Evening Press published a decade or more ago.
No one can say that the Liberal Democrats, whether you agree with our views or not, have been anything other than bold in addressing the issues facing the city.
Peter Brown (Letters, June 4) could easily have talked to the council's chief executive about the council's official code of conduct, much tighter now than in his day, which restricts council officials, when dealing with the media, to answering a direct question about some aspect of the council's work or correcting a factual inaccuracy.
If Mr Brown thinks otherwise he should provide examples.
Since last year all media enquiries about policy issues of the council have been dealt with by the appropriate Liberal Democrat executive committee portfolio holder.
Coun Keith Hyman,
Chair of leader portfolio advisory panel,
The Old Village,
