THE fifth album from the Waterson: Carthy folk franchise presents an eclectic selection of material from a formidable range of sources.
Songs of the sea and singing fishes, an English song that celebrates Napoleon Bonaparte and another English song (Green Broom) revived from an Irish speaking performer's repertoire, allow folk guitar guru Martin Carthy, the singer Norma Waterson, and their daughter, fiddle maestro Eliza Carthy, to showcase their talents, along with gifted melodeon player Tim Van Eyken.
The album also includes a reworking of the Jerry Garcia/Grateful Dead classic Black Muddy River, sung previously by Norma on her 1996 award-winning eponymous solo album for Rykodisc.
