THIS is the second solo album from Omara, the veteran Cuban singer with the Buena Vista Social Club.
As on previous outings, to listen is to be enchanted; the only trouble lies in how much enchantment a person can take in one music-listening lifetime.
What we have here is a beautifully put-together collection of musical love letters, betraying the expected Cuban rhythms alongside Brazilian influences.
Everything is tasteful and musically rich, with striking string arrangements filling out the core group of guitarists, including Manuel Galban, who last year recorded his debut with the American guitarist Ry Cooder, a long-time dabbler in all things Cuban.
The delightful title track, kept all the way back to track 11, stands out amid the sway of good taste. Perhaps if all those other Cuban albums hadn't already come along, this one would make a greater impression. This isn't quite fair, but there you go.
