NEVER mind the tourists - beware the invasion of irate Cornishmen.
Not content with trying to steal Robin Hood for Yorkshire, the tourist board is now trying to install King Arthur of Cornwall in Richmond Castle (Business Press, June 1).
Come on, Yorkies. I've heard Yorkshire described as the "Texas of England" because Texans believe nothing ever happens outside of Texas, but to nick the Arthurian legend is going too far.
All Cornishmen know that King Arthur's knights sleep beneath Tintagel Castle. King Arthur is said to have visited York on his return from having subdued France but Cornishmen claim his Round Table was set up in Cornwall and no doubt will defend this claim vigorously.
As I am neither a Yorkist nor a Cornishman, I will not send a copy of your report to Tintagel Town Council and risk starting a civil war.
A H Barton,
Broadway,
York.
