PUPILS from schools throughout the Clifton area of York were today getting together to take part in a day of drama.
The performing arts events were being organised to launch One School@Clifton, a new initiative involving more than 2,000 children, 200 staff and seven primary and secondary schools, including Canon Lee, Skelton, Burton Green and Clifton Green.
The aim of the scheme, known as a Network Learning Community, is to provide a seamless experience as children progress from nursery through to finishing secondary school.
It will allow the entire school community to learn and work together, share knowledge and give mutual support.
Sheila Audsley, head teacher at Clifton Green, said it was all about collaboration rather than competition.
The scheme, which was featured in the Evening Press in February, has been developed with £150,000 of government funding over three years.
One of today's events was a performance by Year 8 and 9 students from Canon Lee of a drama at Clifton Without, Skelton, Burton Green and Clifton Green Primary Schools. The drama, about aspects of growing up, was written by head of drama Jenny Carr.
