UNBEATEN Riccall head division three of the IT Sports Mixed Tennis League after winning at Civil Service in the final round.

Michelle Hall and Rex Pocklington, who were undefeated, had a good game against Service's top scorers Anne Jackson and Shaun Owen to seal victory.

Jackson and Owen led their side's challenge at Sherburn but could not prevent their team going down as Sherburn earned their first points, Heather Rotherham and Jonathan Sharp winning all three rubbers.

York third team are now the only other unbeaten side as Caroline White and Neil Giltrap won 32 games to ease past visitors Bishopthorpe. Selby stayed in the promotion hunt after a close match with Bishopthorpe with fortunes changing after each round. Chris and Lucy Godwin were the only couple to win all three rubbers.

Champions York stayed at the top of division one after Gareth Adams and Christine Place set the standard in a close run contest against Fulford second string with all the Fulford couples playing consistently to win either 15 or 16 games.

Poppleton were pushed all the way by a useful Dunnington side before Poppleton's Belinda Turnbull and Aidan Richardson sealed the win.

Fulford stayed in third place on games difference after they had an impressive victory at Poppleton seconds led by unbeaten Jackie Heels and Neil Haw.

Wigginton are hoping to bounce straight back from division five after putting together a good opening run with Karen Espiner and Stuart Robertson winning 24 games against Cliffe. Robertson then partnered Ann Mead to lead Wigginton to the points against visitors Wistow.

Wiggington's unbeaten start was ended by Cawood, another outfit with a 100 per cent winning record. Cawood prevailed with Su Matchett and Eddie Burton relishing the chance to play on the carpet courts. Cliffe seized their first win by beating visitors Strensall 70-38.

Another clash of unbeaten teams in division seven saw Wheldrake entertain Dunnington. Wheldrake's Jenny and Don Grant were unbeaten to steer their side to victory.

Dunnington then bounced back with a win at Rowntree Park although Park's Neil Rowley was injured half way through the second rubber.

York are hoping to be in the end of season promotion issues as they beat visitors Civil Service thanks to top scorers Danielle Courtine and Mike Gray (27 games).

Division nine is wide open after Escrick lost their stranglehold on the title after losing at Stillington while Wistow won against Sheriff Hutton.

Father and daughter, Robert and Simone Rhodes played well at Fulford but saw their team go down to a fast-improving Jenny Rowland and Andrew Lowson who won 29 games.

New Earswick were crushed 80-28 by Next Generation in division ten - and it was literally the next generation who ran the show. Damon Deamer partnered Trish Telfer to 32 games against his mum Marianne Deamer, who then lost heavily in the next rubber to daughter Chantel and her new partner, Peter Richardson.

Wigginton slipped into second place in division eleven after their 62-46 victory against Alne with Polly Constable and Tony Howat edging the result in Wigginton's favour. Alne then pipped Appleton Roebuck 58-50 with the rubber won by Anne Dawson and Eddy Myers' 8-4 victory.

Wheldrake took the lead after the first round in their match at Poppleton and managed to hold despite Stephanie Baron and Nigel Empson winning all their games for Poppleton.
