FIRST Clementhorpe got one, now Park Grove and Heslington Lane want one. Of what do I write? Rising bollards.
When can we all have one and make every road private, so none of us can drive anywhere without permission from other residents.
The planners never fail to amaze us with their genius for increasing the chaos on roads, reducing congestion on one road to multiply it on others.
As our city develops and expands with new housing, offices or whatever, with the ensuing increase in vehicles and traffic, the planners close more roads, forcing increased traffic volume on to fewer open roads.
Surely, if there are more people and vehicles they should be increasing access roads to those areas where development has increased the amount of travellers, not reducing the means of access.
In bollard-ing off roads they are pandering to minorities, who will no doubt be happy to drive down someone else's street or road while the majority of other drivers cannot drive down theirs.
