A NOTABLE comeback from retirement saw veteran bowler Steve Whittaker return to the fray for Dunnington and claim 6-46 to set up his side's victory at Sessay.
Richard Ormston made 35 and N. Thorne 32no for Sessay but Whittaker, believed to be the league's leading wicket-taker, struck for the hosts to slump to 154-7. Gary Whitecross made 37 and Gavin Haynes an unbeaten 60 as division five leaders Dunnington won in the 44th over.
Only Colin Benson, who made an unbeaten 45, of the Huntington batsmen offered resistance at Bolton Percy where Henry Houseman took 3-33 and John Rossington 4-23 to restrict their score to 130-9. Stuart Ross (3-56) and Mick Storey (3-77) then hit back but Nick Lister made 42 to help Bolton reach their target with a six.
Hovingham found the bowling of Martin Harper seriously restrictive as he claimed 7-25 and were only able to make 63-9. Ed Willey's unbeaten 32 took Thirsk to a nine-wicket win.
Stamford Bridge had the better of a draw in their game against Carlton Towers where both sides earned full batting points.
Stamford's 213-3 was based on a 140-run opening stand between John Hawkey (63) and Martin Veysey (68) with Ian Frazer chipping in with an unbeaten 31 for good measure.
When Carlton replied, Darren Graves batted throughout to make 82no, while Gary Spence followed his 3-50 by making 68. Richard Knapp (28) also got in on the batting act but Shaun Veysey took 3-93 in a 20-over spell which helped to peg Carlton to 201-6.
