YORK Autograss racers motored to a fistful of winners at round one of the British Autograss Series at Green Hammerton over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The host club took four first places over the two days, with three in the ladies classes.

Louise Bradley won heats two and three and the final to win the class 8 section by 40 points, having dropped just ten points.

The class 5 ladies final saw Angie Chivers pull a final win out of the bag to steal the overall title from York club mate Shirley Grice, who had won every heat but only managed third in the final.

York secured a male-female double in the class 1 Mini category with Nicola Grice winning the ladies and Adam Henley triumphing in the men's, also having only missed ten points.

'Tommo' Stuart Thompson and Paul Watson both ended up second in class 6 and class 5, respectively.

And in the ladies class 3 competition, Jo Thompson finished seventh in a nightmare final outing to leave her fourth despite a first and two seconds in the heats, while a poor third heat forced Rob Schofield out of a final berth in class 7.

Racing at the Green Hammerton track takes place every two weeks until the end of September excluding August, with the next meeting place next Sunday (June 20) from 11am.
