Given the calibre of the last W.A.S.P. album I heard, the heart sinks at it being "Part 1" of this conceptual rock opera, on the grounds that there would be more to follow.
However, that was before discovering that Blackie is back on form. This has the writing and sound of 1980s W.A.S.P., the big guitars, stomping bass, those growling lyrics, but tightened up because they are all older and wiser, and the lyrics have been toned down.
Opening track, Overture, is in your face, The Red Room Of The Rising Sun is another classic W.A.S.P. song, and if there is more of the same to follow, then bring it on.
