A SERIES of free half-day workshops is being planned from now to September to highlight the big opportunities open to North and East Yorkshire farmers in the wake of Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) reform.
The workshops, run by National Farmers' Union regional staff and farm business consultants Andersons, aim to provide up-to-the-minute information on the reforms and a chance to consider in detail at how farmers will have to respond to the challenges ahead.
Specific sessions are being offered for the arable, dairy and livestock sectors, with a total of 16 workshops planned throughout Yorkshire.
Arable farmers will be able to attend sessions at the Bell Hotel, Driffield, on June 14 and 15; at the Golden Fleece, Thirsk, on June 18 and 28; at the Green Tree, Hatfield Woodhouse, on June 22 and 24; and at Barnhill Farm, Howden, on June 23 and 30.
Beef and sheep farmers will have workshops at the Golden Fleece, Thirsk, on August 17; at the Kings Head, Kirkbymoorside on August 18and at Millstones, Harrogate, on August 24.
A workshop for dairy farmers will be held at the Golden Lion, Northallerton, on September 14.
