John Brain (Harrogate Angling Supplies) won the Spring League 40-peg sell-out angling match at Carpvale on Sunday from unfancied peg 13 on Cyprio Lake.
Offering cat meat to the near-side bush and across to the island at 16 metres, his near and far approach was rewarded with a dozen carp to 8lb for 45lb 10oz.
Cliff Lofthouse (Ripon) took second place, from peg 28 on the same lake. Electing to go for bream he offered chopped worm in open water at 12 metres. The slabs failed to show, but he took two tench over 5lb plus some carp for a level 39lb
Others: John Fletcher (Ripon) 34-12-0; Mick Doyle (Armley Angling) 32-12-0; Alan Cooper (York) 32-0-0; Bernard Guy (East End Park) 29-15-0.
Pegs on Goldrush led the way for Saturday's 49-peg open match at the Willows.
Bernard Guy (East End Park) won a tight affair from peg 32, where he alternated meat and pellet at ten metres for a 39lb net of carp, tench and ide to 3lb.

John McGarrell (MAP Elton) scored another win at the Oaks when he easily topped Sunday's 53-entry match fished on Cedar Lake.
Drawn at fish from peg 14 he offered pole and pellet tight to the island at 13 metres for his 60lb 2oz net of quality carp to 3lb.
Mark Coyne (MAP Elton) also managed to avoid the smaller fish at peg 78 and had 47lb 5oz of better stamp carp on pole and pellet to beat off the next peg challenge of local expert Gary Pawlett. The Oaks Lakes-backed competitor was at 79, where his pole and pellet based catch of 46lb 15oz fell just short.
Others: Addie Mitchell (Harrogate Angling Supplies) 39-9-0; Steve Burgess (BAS 2000) 38-15-0; Mark Calvert (MAP Elton) 37-12-0.
The fish took a real pasting in Saturday's 71-peg sell-out match fished on Partridge and Skylark at the Woodlands complex.
Mal Bailey (MAP Elton) led a trio of paste anglers and topped a closely-fought contest from peg 29 on Partridge. Offering his paste at 11 metres he netted small carp to 4lb for a winning net of 99lb 6oz.
