DEVELOPMENT and construction company S Harrison Group of Malton has appointed Chris Walker to head its construction operations.
Mr Walker, 42, takes responsibility for the successful Harrison Construction team which has been behind many of the region's high-profile building projects including the new Norwich Union offices at Monk's Cross, the refurbishment of Merchant Exchange in the heart of the city and the revitalisation of Tedder Road.
Harrison's latest work in York includes projects at the York Science Park, and new offices for Agilysis, off Blossom Street.
He joins the company from Allenbuild, where was construction director. His career in the building industry started 25 years ago as an apprentice joiner with York-based Shepherd Construction Ltd.
He gained a BSc (Hons) in project management in 1998 and has extensive experience of both site and strategic management.
Group chairman Martyn Harrison said: "Chris has exactly the right blend of skill, experience and the can-do attitude which typifies the Harrison approach. We are delighted to have him on board."
Married with two children, Chris lives in Rothwell. He is a keen coarse fisherman and Porsche enthusiast.
