CATERING at an historic York building is set to take on a contemporary twist.
Milburns, part of Restaurant Associates, the fine dining division of Compass Group, has won a five-year contract to provide catering services for the 15th century Merchant Taylors' Hall. The £2 million deal will see Milburns operate all hospitality events at the hall.
The firm will supply the food for banqueting, conferences, product launches, private dining, wedding receptions and corporate hospitality. Despite the medieval setting, things will be kept strictly modern.
Chris Holder, northern operations manager for Milburns, said: "We don't want to compete with the medieval majesty of this great hall, so modern tableware will be used and service staff will wear modern uniforms, giving the venue a vibrant, yet traditional atmosphere."
