MARTIN Revell, head of transport and planning for York City Council, will give business people an insight into the new five-year local transport plan for York when he speaks at the York and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce monthly networking lunch at the Pavilion Hotel, Fulford, tomorrow.
The proposal, for which he is seeking consultation, will run from 2006 to 2011. Len Cruddas, chief executive of the York and North Yorkshire Chamber said: "The current transport plan has been a huge success for the city and has enabled us to draw down substantial funds from central government.
"This just emphasises how important it is to get the next plan right. The whole, area of transport is crucial for business, but it is hugely complex and there is no quick fix out there. Inevitably tough decisions will have to be made and this is a welcome opportunity for the business community's voice to be heard."
