RICHARD Musgrave hit 105 and Lorenzo Ingram 82 in a first wicket stand of 170 that put Clifton Alliance on the road to a 136-run victory over Sheriff Hutton Bridge in the first round of the Hunters Premier League Cup.
Clifton were able to post an impressive 263-4 which was way beyond the Bridge's batsmen who replied with 127-6 with Steve Crowder making a half century.
Holders Dunnington had an 88-run victory at Carlton Towers with Hamid Khan making 92 for the winners and Abhay Sharma 60 for the hosts. Other Dunnington contributors to their 233-5 were Paul Miles who made 38 and Dave Greenlay who was undefeated with 41. Carlton were only able to reply with 155-9.
Thirsk's batsmen, apart from Mark Wainwright who made 30, failed dismally when facing a Heworth total of 152-7 and were dismissed for 89 as James Ulliott took 3-13 and Mark Bell 3-18. Dave Simpson's 44 for the victors was the top score in the match.
Peter Head took 5-37 to bowl Woodhouse Grange to an eight-run victory in a closely fought game at York. Grange batted first and were able to set a good target when Jonathon Bean made 48, Kamran Sajid 51 and Mike Burdett 31no.
A possible score in excess of 200 was limited to 190-6 by Mike Mortimer who took 3-14. Dave de Silva then led York's response with 65 while Andy Kay 35 and Tom Bartram 29 also gave valuable contributions but Head's good spell saw York all out for 182.
Batting first at Sessay, Beverley Town made 164-8 with Richard Taylor making 41 and Tim Fordon 31. Mick Polson 3-26 and Steve Langstaff 3-25 both had good returns for the hosts who were only able to reply with 157-6 as S Sugden took 3-35 despite 52 from John Flintoff.
Sanjay Rodrigo 53no and Matt Dickinson 61 had an opening stand of 114 to set up an Acomb win at Hull Zingari. Adam Taig made 45 for Zingari but a mean eight-over spell from Dave Sykes, which saw him take three wickets for just ten runs restricted the hosts to 148-5. After Dickinson's dismissal, Acomb lost just one further wicket as they coasted to an eight-wicket win
Martin Robinson and Dan Copeland both made 35 when Easingwold set a score of 188-8 against Pickering. Gavin Rees then claimed 3-23 to dismiss the visitors for 105 with Mark Aconley (33) being the only Pickering batsman to profit.
