A lot has been written of late about the Osbaldwick end of the ten-minute No 6 Clifton to Osbaldwick service. May I please write a few words from the Clifton end of this service.
A long time ago, we had a half-hour service through Clifton which was routed via York District Hospital and, because there are a lot of retired people in the area, this service was a boon for anyone who was a hospital visitor, or who had an appointment.
We no longer have this service - but a ten-minute service, the No 6, has been introduced. This service has not been routed where it is most needed, i.e. through the village. Please may every other bus be routed as follows from Tesco straight down Clifton Moorgate, right into Water Lane, right into Green Lane, continue along Rawcliffe Lane, left into Rawcliffe Drive, right into Water Lane and then pick up the No 6 route into Burdyke. From town, the reverse of these roads.
This new route would of course get rid of the No 17 service, and help a lot of older passengers on a fixed income who have to rely on expensive taxi fares.
I am sure the residents who are on the Clifton end of the No 6 would not complain of the changed 20-minute service along the proposed altered route, as the rest would continue to have a ten-minute service as they have at present.
A Laws,
Angram Close,
Clifton,
York.
