REFERRING to the photographs showing the abhorrent behaviour of some members of the US forces in Abu Ghraib towards the prisoners, stop wasting precious time.
I am not excusing that ghastly behaviour but stop picking out the lower ranks.
Go to the top, and I mean the top. The right one, or ones, should be named, shamed and dismissed.
One person is the most guilty. Major-General Geoffrey Miller was in command of the Guantanamo prison.
Last November he visited Lt General Ricardo Sanchez, the officer in charge of American forces in Iraq, and ordered the Military Intelligence Brigade to take over from the military police.
From that moment this policy played a role in the abuses.
On November 19 last year, when the 205th Military Intelligence Brigade took control over the prison, the doors of hell were opened.
