HOLLYWOOD's latest disaster movie The Day After Tomorrow, above, dramatically illustrates the horrendous consequences that would result from abrupt climate change.
While the film is a work of fiction, climate change is not and the effects on people and the planet could be extremely serious unless we take urgent action to cut our use of fossil fuels. Millions of people are likely to become environmental refugees and many species of animals and plants are likely to become extinct as a consequence of climate change.
If we want to avoid the worst effects, we have to take urgent action today. We have to drastically cut our use of fossil fuels and use energy more efficiently. We can all do something, whether at home or at work. For example, we can make our homes energy efficient or buy electricity generated by renewable energy sources.
If you have seen the film and don't want want a future ruined by climate change please take action. Call the Energy Efficiency Advice Centre (0800 512012) or Friends Of The Earth (0808 800 1111) for free and find out what you can do.
