NORWEGIAN Synth-Punks Surferosa, who recently released their debut album Shanghai My Heart, support Stroke-esque band The Killers at Fibbers on Sunday.
Fronting the act, the enigmatic Mariann claims "a gig should be a feast with lots of energy, colour and dancing as well as great music". A word of warning: Mariann, right, has been known to autograph intimate body parts, both male and female. Main act The Killers are from Las Vegas, but their roots lie in 1980s Britain, with Duran-Duran and The Cure style-leanings being obvious.
GOTH rock group Spear Of Destiny appear at Fibbers stage tonight, combining Stiff Little Fingers drummer Dolphin Taylor with Kirk Brandon and Stanley Stammers of Theatre of Hate. Formed in 1983, the group merged romantic lyrics with dark rock and Celtic flourishes One Eyed Jacks. The tour will feature songs from the upcoming album Loadestone, set for an autumn release on the band's label Eastersnow.
Admission is £9 on the door and £8 in advance.
WHILE Beatsiality will be celebrating its second birthday at Fibbers on next month, Monday sees them presenting jazz/hip-hop/funk fusion act Fingathing. Having toured with Hip-Hop legend and innovator DJ Shadow, as well as Herbaliser and The Streets, the decks and double bass combination of Sneaky and DJ Peter Parker create complex and interesting layers of funk.
Further information can be found at www.fibbers.co.uk, while tickets cost £7 in advance.
36 CRAZYFISTS, a four-piece Alaskan outfit, play Fibbers on Wednesday. With melodic-rock tendencies, the band claim similarities to The Deftones and System Of A Down, with latest album A Snow Capped Romance aiming to propel them to the forefront of the "(scr)emo/post-hardcore movement". Support comes from Bullet For My Valentine, tickets are £8 on the door. Call 0870 9070 999 for more information.
ROUND two, heat six sees Rock-Electronica three-piece Dustbowl Central up against Burn and Tip The Balance on Tuesday. Andy Curry and company will be trying to mirror the success of Loki, who won last week's heat, followed by I Am Jack as the closest runner-up. The odds on Fibber's website run with Burn at 14/1, Tip the Balance at 12/1 and Dustbowl Central at 20/1. Doors open at 7pm and admission is £3.
