MALTON jockey Paul Hanagan can return to action with a bang tomorrow after serving a 12 day ban.
He rides at Ripon's evening meeting and I fancy he can win the Ripon Farm Services Handicap over two miles on Red Sun.
Trained by John Mackie, Red Sun, better known as a hurdler, took full advantage of a lenient handicap mark at Newcastle last week when running out a wide-margin winner of a similar race under Robert Winston.
Mackie is keen to run the gelding again before the handicapper reassesses him, and Red Sun is my Nap selection to defy a 6lb penalty tomorrow.
A win for Hanagan on his comeback would be fitting as he preceded his ban by riding a cracking race to win a valuable handicap at York on Vintage Premium, who two years ago gave him the biggest success of his career by winning the John Smith's Cup.
Go Tech should give a good account of himself in the £15,000 Cocked Hat Farm Foods Handicap, especially if the ground does not dry out too much.
Tim Easterby's charge has given notice lately of returning to form and at his best is certainly capable of winning a race of this nature.
Easterby's horses have started to fire. The Great Habton stable had another two winners yesterday, with Roman The Park at Beverley in the afternoon and Bourgeois at Thirsk last night.
David Barker, who won the big sprint at Windsor last night with Celtic Mill, can reel in the smaller fish of the Lishman Sidwell Campbell & Price Classified Stakes with Chairman Bobby.
Lee Enstone's mount, a much-improved sprinter last season, is on the verge of bouncing back to winning form and was a good third to The Fisio at Hamilton last time.
The only Flat action tomorrow afternoon is at Lingfield, where Didnt Tell My Wife has good prospects of landing the Dunsdale Handicap over a mile.
A course-and-distance winner, Chris Wall's gelding should be all the better for his recent comeback outing at Warwick, where he finished sixth to Azreme over seven furlongs on heavy ground. Lisa Jones again has the mount tomorrow, when conditions will be more to Didnt Tell My Wife's liking.
Tomorrow's tips:
Ripon
6.25 Chairman Bobby, 6.55 Lord Of Methley, 7.25 Red Sun (Nap), 8.00 Go Tech, 8.30 Princess Galadriel, 9.00 Seven Year Itch.
Lingfield
2.25 Hasaiyda, 3.00 Romeo's Day, 3.35 Fling, 4.10 Illusive, 4.45 Smokincanon, 5.20 Didnt Tell My Wife.
Tomorrow's other meetings are at Cartmel (National Hunt, afternoon), Fontwell (National Hunt, afternoon), Goodwood (Flat, evening).
