SUCCESS is just a stone's throw away for a new York business.
Human Resources firm, Hopscotch HR, was created six months ago by Kate Hughes. And on May 1 she moved into a new office in Fishergate, York.
With 14 years experience in HR, including senior roles within Dixons Stores Group and Thomas Cook, Kate has already built up a strong client base with guidance from business adviser Peter Dale of the York, Selby and Malton Business Advice Centre.
Hopscotch HR now provides services to more than ten businesses, some as far afield as London, and Kate plans to take on additional members of staff within the next 12 months.
She said: "Before I set up Hopscotch HR I went to the Business Advice Centre who put me in touch with key people in the business community and I also attended the centre's Fit for Business seminars to help me with the financial side of the business.
"Since then Peter has provided me with ongoing help and advice, including the formation of a comprehensive business plan. In particular he has helped me clarify my marketing strategy and plan what steps I need to take to achieve my objectives."
She said: "Without the centre's help the business would not have progressed as quickly as it has."
Mr Dale said: "Kate is extremely experienced in her field and has a very valuable service to offer. "
