The big clash in division one saw leaders Hornea bat first against second placed Malton and Old Malton.
Richard Medforth hit 55 while Guy Martinson 38 and Paul Clappison 46 added valuable runs but were unable to engineer the final batting point when Ryan Bulger with 5-83 and Matt Yates 3-49 each bowled good 18 over spells to dismiss Hornsea for 198.
The free scoring Darren Wyrill was absent from the Malton side due to injury but his team-mates fared well when skipper Neil Johnson hit 70, Andy Raines 40 and Chris Hudson 30no to gain a four-wicket win with an over to spare. Jon Lewis took 3-27 but could not prevent the home side moving to the top of the section.
Osbaldwick moved into second place with a convincing win over bottom placed Goole Town who were knocked over for 99 on their own midden. No Osbaldwick batsman played a really dominant innings but Matt Dunne's 38 allied with Dave West's 26 saw them to 176-8 despite Dave England's 4-77 and Richard Mann's 3-60.
Steve Foster replied with 34 and Gautam Sharma added 26 but the honours went to Shaun White who took 4-33 and Gautam Sharma who had impressive figures of 4-10 as Osbaldwick ran out winners by 77 runs.
Ripon gained a four-wicket win over fellow strugglers Tadcaster Magnet with just three balls to spare.
Magnet's 188-5 was forged by Chris Malthouse 40, Richard Taylor 64 and Dave Lord 44. Tyrone Naude then made a valiant effort to defend the Magnet score by taking 4-83 in a marathon 23.3 over spell. But Dirk Van Dyke made 32 then Paul Sorby weighed in with an unbeaten 37 to give Ripon the edge.
