A CHIP off the old block helped to secure a victory for York Golf Range professional Andrew Smith in the first Young Masters tournament of the year at the Eagles course at Spaldington, near York.
Smith organised the event along with Jonathan Charters-Reid of Charters-Reid and Associates, surveyors of Flaxton, who sponsored the competition.
A total of 30 juniors entered as one of a pair with an adult golfer in a stroke-play format and Smith was a winner alongside his son Oliver (both pictured above). Together they took the category one prize (child aged between six and nine and adult).
The other winners were Sam Mudge and Nick Mudge in category two (child aged between ten and 16 and adult) and Sarah Blythe and Gary Blythe category three (girl and adult).
Co-organiser Charters-Reid said he hoped this would be the first of many trophy presentations to come.
