TWO teenagers shared a record double century stand in an astonishing performance for the Hunters York Senior League's Joe Lumb side in their match against Wetherby League at Stillington.
Opening batsmen Ben Hough and Stephen Sacks scored 278 in the full 50 overs of the innings without being parted.
St Peter's School pupil Hough amassed 148, the highest innings of his career, while Manor School pupil Sacks made exactly 100 not out. Both 17-year-old Hough, from Yedingham, and 16-year-old Sacks play for York in the Senior League.
Their feat is the highest opening partnership by York Senior League in the competition and the first time two York batsmen have scored centuries in the same innings.
Hough passed the highest individual score by a York batsman, beating the 144 scored by Diccon Edwards (Selby) in 1989.
"The innings seemed to go quite quickly, really and with only a few overs to go I was surprised to see how many we had scored," said Sacks.
York's bowlers were always in command when Wetherby batted, and dismissed them for 123, with Alex Renton claiming 6-51 with a fine spell of off-spin.
York won by 155 runs to make it two wins from two games. Their next fixture is away to the Craven Area League at Embsay on Sunday, June 13.
Elsewhere on the York junior cricket scene, the Hirepoint Under 13 League is already starting to take shape with Heworth taking the lead in the Jorvic Zone after their third win - a 69-run victory over Yapham.
Jack Leaning (32 retired) took them to 105-4 and Will Peet's 2-5 restricted Yapham to 36-4, J Booth making 26.
Sheriff Hutton Bridge are in second place after their 31-run win at Bishopthorpe.
A Blair scored 31 retired and E Houldridge claimed 3-11 for Bridge to ensure the win.
The Ebor Zone is a much tighter affair with four teams undefeated - York, Woodhouse Grange, Dunnington and Acomb.
Stillington have taken the lead of the Ebor Zone in the PK Accommodation Under-15 League.
Shaun Speck hit 50 and Tom Banks 53 as Stillington reached 119-1 in a 62-run win over Malton/Old Malton.
Woodhouse Grange are unbeaten in the Jorvic Zone after their 10-wicket win at Osbaldwick where the bowlers were on top with Andrew Cooper (3-11) and S Horner (3-4) doing the damage for Grange.
In the Ovington/Acomb game all ten Ovington batsmen were bowled, as Acomb went on to win by nine wickets, A Green scoring 34 and taking 4-16.
