ALL York's folk sessions and clubs are joining forces for the City of York Folk Day 2004, a day-long feast of music, song and craic at the Black Swan Folk Club, Peasholme Green, York, tomorrow (22nd).
Co-ordinated by Black Swan promoter Roland Walls, this York Live Music Festival event runs from midday to 11pm and is open to all folk and acoustic musicians, singers and listeners. Admission is free.
"This is a joint venture between the Black Swan Folk Club and other, less formal, parts of the York folk scene and follows on from a very successful debut event last year. The Maltings, First Hussar and Tap & Spile are all involved," says Roland.
"The Black Swan Inn will be full of music-making all day with a concert stage in a marquee behind the pub; a continuous folk club in the upstairs function room; musicians' sessions and singarounds in some of the other bars; even some Morris dancing by The Minster Strays."
A CD stall, plenty of real ales, bar food and a barbecue are further attractions. Folk performers keen to book a marquee or folk-club performance should ring Roland on 01904 632922 or contact him on rolandwalls@hotmail.com
