u MOVE over Brideshead Revisited. Castle Howard has attracted an even bigger name, one Tom Jones, sex bomb of the Welsh principality.
In his only northern country-house date of 2004, Jones will take to the outdoor stage on July 24 in a picnic-style concert to be held in association with the Evening Press.
Rob McIntosh, of concert organizers Musical Associates (UK) Ltd, says: "We've been very lucky to secure Tom Jones for this beautiful venue, and we're expecting the concert to sell out very quickly."
Tickets for the veteran singer's performance at York Barbican Centre in 1998 sold out ten months in advance, and this time ticket sales are expected to pass the 10,000 mark.
The Castle Howard event will start at 5pm and will include a fireworks display. Tickets cost £32.50 before end of June; ring the 24-hour line, 0870 272 7374 (ten per cent booking fee per ticket), or ticket hotline 10am to 5pm daily on 0845 2256020 (£2 booking fee per ticket).
Fans with internet access can buy tickets from two websites, www.secextra.com (ten per cent booking fee per ticket) and www. musicalassociates.co.uk (£2 booking fee per ticket).
If any tickets remain unsold, from July 1 until the day before the concert they will be priced at £35. On the day, the price will be £37.50 each, subject to availability.
